Gianluca Pirozzi is SVP, Clinical Development Head, Hematology & Nephrology, at Alexion Pharmaceuticals.  Dr. Pirozzi is also Scientific Advisor for the Smith-Magenis-Syndrome (SMS) Research Foundation, a non-profit organization for the treatment of SMS, a rare chromosomal syndrome.  Prior to his current role, Dr. Pirozzi spent nearly 15 years years at Sanofi, including as the Head of Rare Disease Drug Development and Head of Translational Gene Therapy, as well as the Global Project Head for Dupixent (anti-IL4R mAb), leading the program from proof-of-concept to approval in seven indications. Dr. Pirozzi has worked in Global Pharmacovigilance & Risk Management as well as the full spectrum of clinical development in the Inflammation & Immunology therapeutic area. He started his career in industry as a medical advisor for Servier Laboratories. Dr. Pirozzi holds an MD from Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and a PhD in Immunology from Sapienza Università di Roma. He completed a Post-Doc in Immunology at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France.
